the clock to carve time - 2009

This clock is composed of a coated steel tube and hands whose tips are like the needle of a record player. As the clock moves, the hands carve circular scratches. Rust begins to grow from parts of the steel tube where the coating has been removed by the scratched. As time passes, the rust spreads more. The circle of rust of this clock will chnage like a flower.

This clock does not only inform the current time but also visualizes the stream of time as it passes over longer periods of time, years, or even centuries. We could recognize time not just as a figure but as something tangible.
